Although I had been a casual photographer of birds (primarily hummingbirds) in my backyard for many years, birds did not become a subject of serious photographic interest for me until November 2022 after making my first visit to New Mexico's Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge to see the sandhill cranes. After that first visit, I became hooked, and in the months that have followed since then, I have taken literally thousands of bird photos, some of which are on display in this gallery. I still enjoy photographing hummingbirds in my yard, but this gallery now includes much more than that.
